Problem Dependent Approach in Selection of ES-KBS

The design of a knowledge based system (KBS) has an approach different from the system engineering approach having few stages in common.The various stages of KBS design do not display explicit guidelines for the selection of parameters,which contribute to the three basic component of (KBS):Knowledge Representration,Inference and Interface.In this paper an attempt has been made to determine the method of Knowledge Representation(KR),ingredients of Inference and Different kinds of interfaces for a particular problem.A problem Descriptor Table and Questionnarie is prepared to determine consistency,completeness,diversification of the knowledge.These parameters together with other parameteres such as stability and reliability of the knowledge are used for further processing by Decession Table(DT),which are used for entering the various conditions in the different parts of KBS design such as (1)Knowledge Specification (2)Knowledge Representation (3)Inference and Uncertanity (4)Search and Control (5)System and Developer Interface (6)User Interface . Processing of Decession Table is also described with important steps;Finally the various steps for the determination of components of KBS are outlined.

 

RELIABILITY ANALYSIS OF K-OUT -OF -N:G MACHINONG SYSTEM WITH SPARES AND IMPERFECT COVERAGE

This paper deals with a K-out of -N:G system with spares,state dependent failures and imperfect coverage.The system consist of one switching unit and N main units ,and not less than K units are required for the sucessful performance of the system .The system may find i9ts application in communication,I/O processing and eletrical system ,where the bandwidth ,voltage lamp,regulations are in general considered in certain width.We provide generating function method to compute System Reliability and mean time to failure.
